The urgency is real! I’m 65--there’s not enough time for everything.

Thank you in all seriousness for warning me that the Oura ring exists so I can not buy it! Being guilted by machinery is a thing I have no time for. I mean, I’ve been an insomniac all my life (thanks ADHD!) and I didn’t need a ring to tell me that!😅😈

Senescence makes me think of the Jamie Lee Curtis character in the ‘Freaky Friday’ remake. She was a therapist & wrote a book about senescence 💖

Congratulations on all of the HOH work!! Sounds like it’s gonna be great! xo

Kathy, it is always a pleasure to read your intriguing and informative posts. I feel like my vocabulary is expanding, Spanish been my first language, you go into detail and origination of the root of the words that most of us would not think about.

It is like when I was in college, nursing, learning all the Greek and Latin terminology which is used in the medical field.

I’ve been wanting to go se the HOH play, we actually started making plans but my partner couldn’t get time off. Must say that the only person missing from the band is Domenic, hopefully she is well .

It intrigues me that you are the only one from the Go.Gos that continues promoting the band after glow. Have fun!

I love that quote by Seneca. And I'm with you about the grim reaper. Stay away!! The aging part really hits home when musicians we admire pass on....like Randy Meisner. He had such a beautiful voice.

I'm excited for you with how the HOH musical is coming along. I know you guys will knock it out of the park! Sitting in the airport right now waiting to catch our connecting flight in Atlanta for Scotland. 🙂

Have a safe journey and wonderful trip. I highly recommend the city tourist bus tour in Edinburgh, you get an overview of how the city is laid out and pass all the areas, you can hop on and off. Not in London though, too much traffic. London you'll want to do a Thames river cruise, book a meal at top of the Shard, amazing view.

I love learning things and your posts are always an interestingly explained, random cauldron of info, history and trivia 👍

Sleep.. if you haven't tried yet, amino acid supps like GABA, L-Taurine (to lower excitatory Glutamate from foods and even stresses), and others can be game changers. Each body is different and sometimes react completely opposite of what's expected (been there), so YMMV. Good luck 🤞

Well, now I can add “senescence” to my working vocabulary to describe this stage of my life--thanks, KV! Seriously, another interesting and thoughtful post. Might swap out my Fitbit for the oura ring, but she does sound like a harsh professor! Happy Opening for HOH and break a leg!

Kathy, your observations always strike deep chords (ha ha pun intended) within me. I am just a few years younger and feeling my senescence and trying to resist the struggle against it. You inspire in that direction. Thank you for your depth of curiosity and recognizing the beauty in so many things. I have seen “Head Over Heels” in both Manhattan, NY and Manhattan, KS. Maybe an Austin adventure is in order........I LOVE the show and am thrilled that you are part of this production!

Oh how I loved this piece! I always learn something new every time I read these. This is all so relatable. I’ve just had the Inspire implant surgery. I’m waiting to get it activated. I’ll let you know if it really makes me feel more rested. Had no idea how important good sleep is to our health.

On another subject, I am so excited to come see Head Over Heels soon! What an amazing life you live! ❤️

I've never heard of inspire implant surgery! That sounds something George Saunders would write in a short story. I'll look it up when I have time...or you can tell me abt it!

Hey friend! I just noticed this reply only a year late. I need to get better at checking! It's actually good timing because I've had my Inspire now for just over a year. It definitely takes some getting used to, but it has changed my life for the better. I now sleep without worrying about apnea or snoring! Yay me! The surgery itself wasn't bad, but the recovery was longer than I anticipated. I still have an ugly scar on my chest, but I happen to like scars, so it's whatever. It takes some going back and forth to the doctor to fine tune the device intensity. I've been at a level 13 now for almost the full year and even though I think I could go down in intensity, I'll keep it as is, because it's working. They delay it by a timer which the doctor can program. Once I go to bed, I hit the remote on. Mine is at about 30 minutes. If I don't fall asleep by then, I'll feel the subtle "shock" or "constriction/pulsing" which goes for like 3 seconds on, 2 seconds off all night long until either I wake up after 7 hours, or I can turn it off via a remote control when I wake up. Losing some weight seemed to help with the way my jaw is set back, so between that and the device, I feel so much better and healthier. If you have any more questions, just gimme a shout. You've got my number ; ) P.S. Love reading your updates of life in England! Miss seeing you around.

It’s nice to know that I’m not alone, in my night owl habits. Why does the world have to start so early every morning?! I’ve only succeeded in getting to bed by about 12:45 or 1:00am on most work nights. If I didn’t have to be up by 7:00am, I’d probably still be going to bed even later! Of course, my cat starts making noise and wrestling my legs around 6:00am.😒

I was on track for a good 7 hrs last night, but Gingerman plonked his big orange tab body next to my face and started wheezing and purring loudly. Gave up at 5:50 and hope for a nap later!! Thanks for reading and commenting Joyce!

Random note: I’m in a restaurant in Fort Myers, Florida, wearing my “Go-Go’s - It’s About F’ing Time” t-shirt, and a guy came over to me and said, “Great shirt! Kathy Valentine is one of my favorite bass players, ever!”

If you really get tired a lot, you should talk to Belinda about that. I saw her show on July 15th 2023 and

I was blown away by her energy. I couldn't get a good picture of her because she wouldn't stop moving! She performed for an hour and 22 minutes! Her voice sounded like she did 30 years ago and she looks great! I am pretty sure she can help you! God bless The Go Go's!

What you saw was “an hour and 22 minutes of energy”, with adrenaline & applause to fuel that energy.

I saw her last month, too & she was great!! …but a tiny snippet of a person doing what they love compared to anyone’s everyday life isn’t really comparable.

with all due respect, while I may not be able to front a band dancing and singing with a voice like Belinda, she would not be able to musically direct, lead a band and learn a 2 hour musical score on an instrument in multiple keys and stay focused and engaged for 5-8 hour rehearsals six days a week. We all have our talents.
