love this. love the sound of strumming an unplugged hollowbody... need to get me one. looking forward to hearing more of this song as I make my way up the posts 🤍
Just subscribed to this because 1. Love you. 2. Just lost my dad who had a Tejano band in south Texas. He was on local radio and TV stations and now that's all I have. He got me into band class and I played the trumpet during that time. We played the crap out of We got the beat on the field. But I was drawn more to the b-side. Can't stop the world. So then he got me a snare drum. 😊 my mom was annoyed but supportive. So now I am listening to the one 45" that my dad wrote and recorded. It's called "cuando tu me quieres!" He actually wrote the b-side as well. And then another that was only recorded on radio. It's been a healing process to go through. I know that you lost your mom recently and send hugs. Love everything that you do. Keep rocking!
thank you Renel, I really appreciate how supportive you are of my work, whether it is music or writing. I'm so sorry about the loss of your dad--he sounds awesome. xok
I am as obsessed as a non-musician can be with the art of songwriting. Seriously, I am always asking musician friends, "How do you know what melody goes with what chords? And how can there be any new music after all these centuries of songwriting? I mean, there are only so many chords, right?" I am sure they get quite tired of me, so thanks for indulging my curiosity that doesn't make people disinvite me from parties.
I love and can relate to the words in your song. It reminds me of myself and my relationship with my mother. I get so caught up in everything that time just slips away from me. Every year I tell myself one thing I want do this year is definitely spend more time with my mom and dad. My mom and my dad are almost 90( God bless them both. I truly believe they run circles around me).I can’t tell you how much I appreciate them and am sooooooo lucky they are here for me. It’s so funny that as we get older, we can appreciate our parents and value the time with them. Time passes so quickly. The precious time that we do have with them seems to grow less and less with each day. We don’t realize how fast things slip away especially as you get older. When you’re a kid everything seems like an eternity but when you’re an adult it’s seems like things go by in a blink of an eye. When I sit, and I try to think back on certain things while reminiscing with friends or family, I’ll say remember that when that happened two years ago . I then have to actually think about it and correct myself, two years wasn’t actually two years, was probably more like 7 to 10 years. Everything is just flying by. You are so amazing to share so much of yourself with us. Each and every day for myself has been such a learning experience. Even though some of those times were fantastic and some were really hard and scary I truly do appreciate everything more and more each day! I truly hope you have a wonderful year with everything you want and wish to accomplish!!! Thank you for being so amazing and sharing your journey with us!
Hi Robi, I do appreciate your responses and how open you are. Thank you for being here. How cool is it you still have parents that are doing great at 90!!! xxK
It’s very cool! What a treat Thursday will be for us! It’s the Armenian Christmas so she will be cooking all the traditional foods and deserts. Ofcourse she has to cook everything herself because all the recipes are in her head ( even though she has some of the recipes written, but over the years the recipes that were handed down from her great grandmother have been altered over the years lol) and if we try to help of course we get yelled at because she tells us we do not know how to make the stuff like her. Ofcourse we don’t because we follow the recipe that’s written down and she follows the recipe that’s in her head! So after the American Christmas, we’re all full and ready to explode from all the foods she made. We have about 10 days to recover hopefully lose a few pounds , unfortunately that never happens and then it’s time to indulge in the Armenian foods!
By the way, absolutely love your rings, very fond of turquoise nothing like turquoise that comes from my birthplace Iran!
Happy New Year! This is so cool! To see a creator create isn't something I get to see every morning (nor is learning about wolf pee). As for letting the kitties outside - I'd be terrified (especially after losing my kitty for nine days). But what do you do when kitty already knows what it is to be outside? You can't (easily) keep them locked in. I asked the vet how to transition an indoor/outdoor cat to just an indoor cat. Her look said "you're screwed", but she said, "well, you can try, but it's difficult". So for now, injured kitty is drugged up and just stays inside. Rambunctious black kitten gets to go out and catch geckos. He's very good about coming in when I call him, but there's a constant worry inside of me. My Mom pointed out that she's been worrying about me for 52 years - especially before I retired from the NYPD.
I've concluded that any future kitten will be trained to walk outside with a harness and lease. A catio is a plan for my next house. In the meantime, I'll enjoy every moment I get to spend with my kitties outside in the garden; watching them explore, chase, bask and climb.
I hope your kitty gets well and recovers completely Christopher. I know exactly what you mean, I've been researching how to ship my cats to UK when I move, and will be looking only at apartments that have a garden space. I don't know if I can have indoor only cats. It's a personal decision I guess. It's one reason I decided not to move to NYC even though I've always wanted give living there a shot for a year or so! xxK
Great to hear and see your story on this song. You still had that eureka moment on that chord you needed; that 'and now we're rolling' moment, which I completely identify with. Thanks for sharing this, Kathy.

Kathy,
Hurry is a great song - Lyrics are very relatable as well. I am enjoying The Direction of Motion and will keep reading.
I didn't know about Tux and I'm just heartbroken about the news. He was such a sweetie. I'm so sorry for your loss. Big hugs.

Great video - interesting chord choices.
Love this video! Really like that you shared your songwriting process! That guitar looks pretty cool too, what kind is it? :)
thanks DeDe! it's my aunt, Anne's, partner Steve's and I forget what it is. Don't know of the maker, but it was cool.

So glad you enjoyed it Dan! more to come!
I love the lyrics and thanks for taking us through the process! I always seem to relate to your writing.
I love when I hear that!! When I write, it feels like it's going into the void, until I get a response like this! thanks Kelly.
