That first mothers day is hard. my mom passed well before my days were filled with clarity, so i escaped and escaped and escaped, then. I gain hope, insight and comfort reading (and getting readings) from medium Allison Dubois. One thing she said always comes to mind "every day we spend here on earth is a day closer to when we will see and be with them again". I look forward to hearing more about your book sequel, as you chip away, KV. I feel pretty good about aging, at least today i do. Honestly, i visually see no signs of you aging at all, since back in those early 90's days in L.A.. Seriously. Fanny is coool. Love that bridge in Thinking of You. CARLA! love that lady. love her.
Also, I loved your performance of the 13th Floor Elevators song with Carla Olsen. A D.J. friend once interviewed Roky, and said that all he was really interested in talking about was “monster movies,” so it was apparently an unusual interview :)
I've doing that alot lately. Words have been coming out very creatively. I thank you for lots of it!
LOVE LETTERS! Stay well KV. I look forward to reading of your amazing adventures! I hope you baby is well! I love your bad ass muscle car! You gotta look good behind the wheel! Much love! Huge fan!
Exciting that you got your British citizenship!! I had never heard of Fanny, so I looked them up on YouTube... OMG!!! Loooove them!! Love their sound! Happy belated Mother’s Day to you!! Thank you so much for connecting. XX. Oh! Feel better with your eye. After 50 everything started to hurt for me....my neck, my back... you know the rest lol. Hugs Kathy!!
Thank you for another wonderful column, and I’m so glad that you’re going to hang out with Fanny and play at the Nuggets show :)
(Early British psychedelia is kind of like catnip to me — Syd Barrett, The Action … Creation, Eyes, Birds, John’s Children, etc. … so I’ve almost worn out my box set). My FB acquaintance Robbie Rist posted an advertisement for the L.A. show —- we were both friends with Laurie McAllister, who was the last bass player for The Runaways, then joined Kim Fowley’s next venture The Orchids (I think you may have alluded to them (on page 91) in “All I Ever Wanted…”)
Hope you have fun in L.A., and I look forward to your next book :)
Hi Joe, yes it's great that Lenny Kaye preserved and compiled that collection, or many of those bands and songs might have gone the way of so many pre-internet discoveries!
I went back and listened to some of the original “Nuggets,” and recalled that a lot of early ‘80s bands here (in Eugene, Oregon) were covering most of the songs off of those albums. It seems like the same group of people made up various permutations of our local punk bands (which included The Nads, Foamlords, Los Xplorers, The Milkmen and Los Falcons which, by complete accident, became Screaming Jay Hawkins’ backing band for a year or two…)
Instead of a reply to my message, I got an email to Upgrade to Paid. You're validated Kathy but not every fan can afford even the small things. It was a nice thought to think I too could be included. Thanks anyway.
I think I found in the settings how this happened--it is a feature called "boost" that randomly goes out to people who are most engaged--thank you!!!--to try and optimize paid subscribers. I was able to edit the language to explain that it's a feature, not from me, not required, no pressure! thanks for alerting me Todd
I'm turning 55 this year and I am feeling it all fall apart. LOL I am in the best shape of my life and yet my knees, hip and sleep patterns are trying to wear me down. Oy vey.
Can't wait to read your sequel! I also want to say that having you as an example of how to live your best life as you get older - helps me remember that being a kick-ass intelligent gorgeous rockstar can last forever as long as you keep stoking those creative embers.
Interesting post about we encounter growing older. Not far behind you. These days my saying is - I remember when the snap, crackle, pop sounds I heard in the morning came from my breakfast cereal, not my body.
Can’t wait to one day read the memoir sequel ... but it’s so enjoyable to read your real-time observations here and on other platforms. I hope one day you qualify for affordable cataract surgery. It’s a fast procedure and so worth it. I had both eyes done and the world is so much brighter. Thanks for all you do. Wishing you much added joy with your dual citizenship
On a lighter note, I feel like a goofball in my 20's most of the time, too, even though I'm 57. Except for these "crystals" that keep running amok in my ear canals, making me feel dizzy all the time. At least I'm finally getting some vestibular therapy.
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I have gotten the Epley maneuver a couple of times. I think I screwed it up this time, because you’re not supposed to bend your head up or down for 24 hours. I’m bad at remembering that!

Thanks so much for your reply and kindness. You've reaffirmed my faith in humanity. LOL. I'll always be a fan.
That’s weird, and I’m so sorry! I didn’t send that and will check all the settings to find out why you got a prompt like that.
Thank you Kathy.
Love the idea of the Etymological Garden, I’ve always enjoyed seeing the movement of ideas between various cultures through shared words/roots.
me too! so much so, that it's hard to understand why other people aren't as fascinated as I am! So I try and share in a lite way here. xxk
It's the worst feeling when the world turns upside down like that. Sending healing energy your way!

Bad sleep patterns! That’s another thing we have in common! Or that the world doesn’t conform to my sleep patterns…
I continue to enjoy your writing and I’m finally a paid subscriber thank you for sharing I learn so much each time
thank you Kevin!!

Thank you Stephen, and your reassurance about cataract surgery is welcomed too!
Great as usual Kathy! If you need a TV writer/producer I may have a guy. Incredible experience! Holler!
Thanks Kevin, so far so good!

I've been there!! Happens to me once or twice a year. Lots of water and try The Epley maneuver with a PT. It always gets me right back on track!
