oooo, i love them oooo's kv. love love love. and you layered them so beautifully and effortlessly.
zach got the fire, very nice
until the disclaimer i was like, holy shit kv knows her math and physics shit.
that's a deep study to undertake with a hundred or so people... the moment a person realizes someone is "someone", and that first thought... and then they feel different, act different, treat the person different... everything changes. it's very interesting that split second a person realizes.
similarly, that moment a person who was a prisoner of a thing they relied on, then became utterly betrayed by the thing, becomes willing... that moment when ego finally loses and the person somehow reaches to choose a new way. asks for help, knowing they're once and for all licked.
a 100 stories of just that moment.
I will check the notes, I saw a tab but didn't see content.
I really dig your updates! So honest, real, and authentic - just like you! One of my best friends and I just went on a little jaunt to Atlantic City from Ohio and back, and we re-listened to your memoir on Audible...so compelling! It was her first listen - and she was so impressed by it. Girl when you go honest you go all the way! Love everything you do, and I love you (a fan sort of balanced love, not a whack-job sort of love, lol)...keep being prolific!
Wow. Zach looks/sounds like an awesome guitar player! Also, that's a cool purple chair. That's great that you put "Go-Go's" as your employer. It's nice that that guy has a fun day at work, every now and then. Can't wait to hear more about your new job!
Loving the vibe of the new song and Zach Person, can't wait to see how things shape up, and congrats on the new job I can't wait to find out what it is!! And I'm loving the story behind you writing Vacation, I don't write my stuff to necessarily do something in daring to the whole world, but if it inspires or entertains even one person I will be happy. Whether I'll even be around after 40 years of writing something that I did is debatable, been through a lot in my 50 years physically, not least of which oh really bad car accident where I practically went through my windshield and as I get older, still feeling the lingering effects. I'm struggling to get into better shape so I don't end up in a wheelchair, but when I'm down, a little bit of a Go-Go's and the stuff you did with the Textones as well cheers me up and gets me through the day. Keep up the awesome work, and again it was awesome meeting you and cheers to hopefully meeting again HRx
Love this! My first interaction with border patrol was quite different. Back in the 80s I would walk to my grandparents and my cousins house on a railroad tracks heading south. I was walking towards Mexico. Not away. And I was stopped by border patrol. As a teenager that didn't yet have any ID other than a high school one, I was wondering what was happening. I was born in Texas. But I was made to feel that I couldn't visit with my family in Texas. All born in Texas. My mom's a naturalized citizen from Mexico. Fast forward to 2023 and I still feel that.
It's the thought in the back of my head whenever I go anywhere. Crazy right? And driving from South Texas to Austin...you're going to meet border patrol. But back then it was scary. My friends step-dad was head of border patrol back in the 80s. And he welcomed me in to his home. And he has since recently passed. I was there to support my friend and her biological father's passing. And I remember him coming up to me and saying that he remembered me. And that I hadn't aged. I laughed and said, oh I'm alot older now but I began to tell him the stories that I remember of him. Priceless!
How fun watching you and Zach in action! The song is cool. I have not started watching Succession yet. Currently getting caught up on Perry Mason. Very cool story with the Borders/Customs agent, glad it turned out well. I bet his shitty divorced meant his ex is getting 50% of his hard earned pension. :( Thanks for sharing cool stuff and I look forward to hearing about your new job. :)
Congratulations on the new job! Looking forward to hearing the details! I think it's pretty cool that you made that customs/border agents day. You made his day brighter and that was a very sweet thing to do.
Love the song! Zach is a very talented young man. I'm looking forward to hearing the finished product!
This is why I love your Substack, KV. I never expected to get a physics discussion over here. You're always a pleasant surprise. And I just realized that I've never asked for a photo with you and I'm guessing I better find a way to get that before you relocate to the UK (and I'm very jealous of that).
I am working late and am grumpy about it, but the story about Formerly Grumpy Customs Agent replaced my crankypants with laughingtrousers. And the song sounds great!

I have old school krk's.
I think I was having trouble thinking of something intelligent-sounding to say that day...so I just wrote down a bunch of disjointed thoughts. :)
Ok, two reasons to travel to Austin: See HoH in Austin, and Lucy's fried chicken. Sold! :)
Ok, hope to see you. We hang out in the lobby after it seems
Happy that you’re writing, you’re working and you’re staying in touch. These update are great. Sending love.

Yes! I used to have alternate ones, NS 10s and even auratones,--actually still have but haven't incorporated into set up in a while.

What a terrible experience Renel, sounds scary

Love how joyful you are!
Thanks for introducing me to Zach. What a talent!
Glad to hear you've found work and are still able to make it across the pond this fall.
Rock on! 🤘🎸
Zach is the best, big future ahead for him

laughingtrousers lololol!!
He's lucky to have met you and got the scoop! Time went slow until graduation, then it started increasing in velocity.
exactly!
