I saw HOH in SF during its pre-Broadway run and had so much fun. Then when they introduced the band during the curtain call and to see they were all women -- it was perfect. What would’ve been even more perfect -- and I still hold out hope for, however unlikely -- would to see HOH with the Go-Go’s as the band. I’d die a happy guy.
I completely believe that a busy present can bring about a specific unknown something that you don't even know that you want right now. Your new gig sounds fabulous!
Good to be on all the medical upkeep, and hope that there is a mammogram on that list of fun things to do too. (I nag all the women I know about this. Because was diagnosed by one 8 years ago and I'm grateful that I hadn't skipped that year's mammogram as I had others.)

I’m really happy to see you, Gina, Jane, & Belinda continue to make music and to see you making a leap into Musical Director!! 🖤🖤 (idk what Charlotte is up to since she’s not on social media)
I’m quite good at asking for what I want in some situations, but know that I still need more work on believing that I deserve things and that people won’t hurt or abandon me for having needs and wants. It’s inspiring to see you go for what you deserve ❤️

Even though you feel you are uncertain about your future, it sounds like you are going down a path that you are enjoying. Go's Go's music has been very entertaining to me, and I love to see you girls in concert when you are in LA.
The Go's Go's are underrated, you girls are rock stars. I am happy to see that all of you are still doing stuff. It is motivating and inspirational.

Asking for what I want has never been my strong suit. I see what a detriment that has been (especially to my love life). Luckily, I have a lot of good things in my life...but perhaps those are the things that I was better at asking for...
It would be awesome to see Head Over Heels, with you as musical director and one of the musicians! I have a couple of good friends in Texas...maybe I can make that happen...

The Wilkerson book seems most compelling. Here's my take on your observation: Sad, but true. You can say this about National Socialists borrowing from other societies as well. However many people now use any association (whether justified or not) with National Socialism to discredit often valid ideas and institutions. For example, people who think Darwin's Theory of Evolution is bunk try to convince people of its falseness by saying that Hitler was an evolutionist. Well, there's a micro grain of truth to this observation, but...I think you catch my drift. Context is everything...
By keeping busy while remaining uncertain about the future, aren't you still realizing it? Makes perfect sense to me.

Love this read. In 3rd grade our school music teacher Ms shoebrooks stopped and said can we all try it without renel. So I didn't sing. To add insult to injury, I went to see Belinda in McAllen Texas during my junior year in high school open up for Robert Palmer and I bought a t-shirt and her daughter Melanie asked me if she could borrow it. I never got that t-shirt back from her. But I love the news that you are the director of music Zach.
First of all- " though it’s hot af in August, Austin has AC, tacos, swimming and great music." This!!! I miss Texas. I need to plan a trip soon.
I'm loving both of the songs. Your voice is your voice. Nothing wrong with it. It kind of reminds me of Debbie Harry's. You don't try to sing outside your range. Your solo record was very good. Many of the songs are on my Playlist.
I think staying busy is good. Sometimes clarity comes from being involved in different projects. And sometimes aiming for an unknown something might just mean having a conversation with your Higher power, like you talked about in your book. Just a thought. 🙂
Wow a lot of stuff going on in your latest dispatch! Loving the songs, and congrats on the HOH gig. I'm hoping I can swing a visit to Austin to see it. That would be fun! :) I just saw a local production of it with a HS version and the young performers were so good!
On a relatable (dental/medical) thing..I also had some intense dental work recently. Tooth #19 was the "death of me" lol ... ended up having to replace a crown. Then when that failed had to get a root canal. Then had to get a new crown again on top of the root canal and new crown! Ugh. The good thing though I'm lucky I have good dental insurance and only had to pay just over a hundred bucks out of my pocket. Whew!! I've had 3 colonoscopies (starting about 7 yrs ago), and they are no fun that's for sure. I'm more nervous about the IV part (I hate needles/blood/vein stuff!). I was kind of mesmerized watching the procedure going on live on the monitor since I didn't feel any pain (and no blood seen!). Weird!
I'll have to check out "Beef" and still need to start "Succession"!
Kathy, I admire you so much and everything you do. You just keep going. I love you reading your posts. And I continually share them on my Twitter for anyone else to see.
Speaking of dental work, I'm going to have 13 teeth pulled this coming Monday the 24th. Yeehaw! I will have new teeth and then make an appointment to get a new hip replacement. It's going to be an interesting year, but these things need to be done. Take good care of yourself, kathy. Look forward to your next Substack. 😊.
